In an exclusive function organized at Miami, USA on 23rd June, CVRCE has signed an MOU with NSU, the USA’s seventh largest, not–for-profit independent university which is nationally recognized for its innovative distance-learning and oceanography programmes. In this collaboration, CVRCE will start BS & MS programmes in Coastal Zone Management, Marine Environment & Biotechnology & other exclusive programmes on Oceanography from the coming academic sessions. The President of NSU, Mr. George L. Hanbury has expressed his desire to collaborate with CVRCE to establish an exclusive oceanographic center at Chilka to offer various UG, PG & research programmes in environment and oceanography science.
This collaboration is an output of the effort put by the Higher Education Team headed by Mr. Debi Prasad Mishra, the then Education Minister, that visited USA in the year 2010.
As a part of this collaborative venture, the students shall continue part of their study at CVRCE & the last 2 years at USA in a credit transfer system. Further, the Chairman of CVRCE, Mr. Sanjib Kumar Rout said the college has made exclusive arrangements with NSU to start joint research programmes in green energy & Oceanography. CVRCE, which was earlier offering BE & GME in Marine Engineering will now offer different types of Marine & Oceanography courses to facilitate the students of Orissa to get an opportunity to study in an international milieu. The University Provost and Executive Vice President, Mr. Frank De Piano, the Dean of Oceanographic Center, Mr. Richard E. Dodge, the President, Megatech Services (USA), Mr. Safaquat Khan, the Executive Director of Academic Review, Dr. Meline Kevorkian and the Executive Director for International Affairs, Dr. Anthony J. DeNapoli were present during the meeting.
